ART & CULTURE
This week, our wonderful ‘John Wayne Memorial Cinema (soon to be)’ is showing and subsequently celebrating Woody Allen, Roman Polanski and Alfred Hitchcok films. Starting with ‘Annie Hall’ from Monday and finalising next Sunday with ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ – we are bound for some eye-opening evenings. We hope to be seeing him here! Til that inevitable day; we watch (and wait) eagerly!
The Museum and Gallery’s ‘Picasso studio’ is excited to announce that Pablo himself will be hosting an art-curating conference and workshop. Non-alcoholic beverages and nibbles will be provided. This will then be followed by a live panel discussion regarding his role in the disempowerment of feminism and commodification of the female form, as well as a general Q&A (please run your questions by me for quality control - none about his blue period please) . Exciting stuff! ****This is a ticketed event, only 30 spaces left!*****
Following the success of last year’s production of ‘War and Peace’ (unabridged version), I am thrilled to report that auditions for the ‘Inferno Players’, our local amateur dramatic society will be held in the Great Thacher-Hall, over the next fortnight. Advised monologue sources include ‘Mission Earth’ by L.Ron Hubbard, or any refreshing work of that nature (please no David Williamson). For those who are more inclined to poetry, as I am so myself, you are encouraged to perform uplifting works such as Sylvia Plath.
That’s all from me this week everyone!
Please check in and listen to the weekly podcast with the wonderful Lorraine and Barry for further elaboration on current affairs!
And remember…always suffer with a smile!
